Mon Petit Chou

I've always loved this French saying. Translated it means my little cabbage. How sweet, right? In school I was taught that the French use this as a term of endearment, especially on Valentine's Day. However, years later after befriending some Frenchmen I learned that is not the case. In fact they found the saying very strange and had never used it before. Either way, I still find the saying extremely endearing. Have a lovely day mes petits choux!

  1. What a sweet little story. After years of living overseas in a French speaking country I haven't quite heard this used either..similar things though. That bag on the other hand is precious and I would buy it in a heartbeat:)

  8. Maybe it's a Suisse thing? My Grandma called my Mom Chou Chou after this saying. It supposed to mean the youngest in the family. My Dad thought it was cute and when she came to visit him in America he introduced her to his family as Chou Chou. Now that's what everyone calls her outside of work.
