Diet Detox - Update

I'm still hanging on...After three days of detoxing I have started to feel differences in my body. I am more energized and my mid-section appears to be sleeker. I have to admit that I did not strictly stick to Gwyneth's Detox Diet. After eating the not so appetizing broccoli soup on Monday I started to make my own meals within the detox parameters of fruits, veggies and whole grains. Smoothies, veggies, oatmeal and soup were my "go-to" meals, using what I had on hand. I plan to start incorporating more foods from my regular diet and by no means want to swear off processed food forever.

My recommendations for anyone trying this...
  • Stay hydrated - I hear coconut water is a great way to hydrate the body quickly. I am not a fan, if anyone finds a tasty way of consuming it let me know. (I thought about making ice cubes out of it and using it in smoothies but have yet to try it.)
  • Don't wear yourself out on the same meals. Once you try a recipe you like incorporate some of your other favorite fruits and vegetables.
  • Plan ahead. Make sure you have the time to make the meals or prep them. This will allow you to stick with it and not get frustrated easily.
Overall, I realized that I can easily cut processed foods out of my diet. Again, I do not plan to go completely vegan, but my goal is to eat better during the week. Allowing me to indulge (if needed) on the weekends. We will see how it goes!

  1. I should probably look into doing something similar too. I am holding out till the farmers market opens in a few weeks.
